  • Arts Week Success - The 2011 Northern Parishes Arts Week, for the Parishes of Binfield, Warfield and Winkfield has been a great success.  A vast team of people has worked together to create a programme of FREE events for the local community.

In addition to the usual tried and tested daytime workshops which continued to be very popular and well supported a new venue this year was St Peter's Church Hatchet Lane Cranbourne, and the evening events proved very popular.  St Peter's Church is very keen to make their Church building a popular venue for community activity and events; and the Northern Parishes Arts Week was an ideal opportunity.  So in their first year of involvement there was a fascinating talk on Bee Keeping by Philip Wharton a local beekeeper; a capacity audience at a talk about Windsor Great Park by John Deakin, Head Forester and Bill Cathcart, the former Superintendent of the Park; an absolutely amazing organ recital by three young (14, 15) students from Eton College Max James, Daniel Parr and Alex Tucker hosted by internationally renowned organist, Head of Keyboard Studies at Eton College, David Goode and the week ended with a very interesting and well attended talk about modern craftsmanship at St Georges Chapel by Charlotte Manley the Chapter Clerk.

The Art Exhibition at Brownlow hall Warfield drew ever bigger numbers.  We had more artists exhibiting than before and more visitors too.  Overall more work was sold to visitors than in all previous years added together – which must be an inspiration for those who take part.  Judging this year was undertaken by Julian Mitchell (professional Binfield based artist) and Vince Traynor (owner of V&A Traynor Arts, the gallery and framers in Binfield).

Chloe is a self taught artist and demonstrates an exciting and very passionate approach to her two favourite subject matters for her work, Ballet and Horses. We drew out the name of one visitor to the Art Exhibition (who voted for Chloe in the public vote) to receive an art commission by Dee Cowell, and that person is Emma Kohring.
